Clompers look like hollow brown hemispheres with springly legs. They are used exclusively by powerful beings to guard temples, crypts, or other special areas. They act like an "immune system" for the place being guarded. If something foreign (like PCs) enter the area, the clompers swarm until killed or until the invader is neutralized. Combat: Clompers attack by jumping up into the air and landing on top of their target. They weigh approximately 300 pounds when fully grown and pack a nice wallop when they land on you. Their undersides have sharp ridges that add to the attack. Their undersides have the -5 armor class so as to protect them from impaling themselves on their target's weapons when attacking. However, if a PC can manage to hit a clomper in this fashion, it does double damage. |
Habitat/Society: Clompers live in large groups and communicate through a primitive form of ESP. They have a "hive" mentality. What oen clomper "knows" the others "know". They are asexual and instinctively maintain their "hive" at a number that ideally suits their environment and their "job". Once one clomper has encountered an "invader", none of the other clompers can be surprised by that "invader" so long as it remains in the area. Ecology: Clompers can eat anything. If need be, they will become cannibalistic in order to maintain an adewuate food supply. Members will volunteer to be eaten by the others to keep the "hive" intact. Clompers almost always are found underground. They have infravision as well as a form of sonar. Their senses are extremely keen. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
